Value of Water

Who We Are:

West Valley Water District delivers clean, and reliable water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. As part of our mission, we continually strive to provide the best possible service while planning ahead for the future.

We serve 100,000 customers across six communities and 32 square miles.

At West Valley Water District, we focus on cost-effectiveness and sustainability. Our 88 water professionals keep our delivery system flowing, treat water to meet all standards and prepare for current and future demands.

Our Commitment:

West Valley Water District envisions a future where we are a model for innovation and sustainability, with a commitment to our growing communities and our employees. This process takes expert planning, investment and teamwork.

We are always thinking ahead to ensure long-term water reliability. As a public utility, we cannot charge customers more than it actually costs to deliver services. With aging infrastructure, community growth and inflation, we remain committed to keeping rates as low as possible while also ensuring safe water delivery. West Valley Water District is investing in infrastructure and local water sources to best serve our communities for years to come.

As we invest in replacing and upgrading aging infrastructure across the district, some key projects include:

Oliver P. Roemer Water Filtration Facility Expansion

The District is expanding the facility’s treatment capacity to 21.6 million gallons per day (MGD) as part of a major capital improvement project. This project supports sustainable, long-term water resource management across the region.

This Project:

  • Replaces aging infrastructure and supports peak summer demand
  • Allows the district to maximize the use of surface water supplies when available so we can rest our wells and help local basins recover
  • Supports sustainable, long-term water resource management across the region

 Fontana Fire Hydrants

Our commitment to community goes beyond delivering water, it means ensuring our customers’ needs are met during emergencies. West Valley Water District, in collaboration with San Bernardino County Supervisor Jesse Armendarez, recently took proactive steps to install new fire hydrants in Southern Fontana to ensure that our communities’ families, homes and livelihoods are protected. This critical fire suppression infrastructure will allow our community firefighters to respond quickly and effectively in cases of fires and increase the fire resiliency of our neighborhoods.

 Backup Generators

From earthquakes to wildfires and planned Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS), our region faces real challenges that can impact how we get our water from facility to faucet. To face these challenges, WVWD proactively invests in critical infrastructure like emergency generators. These generators help keep water moving through the system, maintain positive pressure to prevent contamination, and ensure firefighters have steady water pressure to protect our communities. By strengthening our facilities and systems, we’re safeguarding your water supply and the quality of life for everyone in our service area—today and for future generations.
