The West Valley Water District (WVWD) Board of Directors voted to approve a new 5-year rate plan following a water rate adoption public hearing on Thursday, December 4. The new rates which are set to take effect on January 1, 2026 were designed to protect and strengthen the District’s water future.

WVWD’s water service rates have not increased in 10 years, even as the costs of living and essential materials, energy prices, and other services have risen. The new rates will continue to fund critical system upgrades and support projects that enhance long-term water reliability. These investments include maintaining aging infrastructure and advancing projects that prioritize fire resiliency.

Average residential customers with a 1-inch meter, can expect to see an average increase of $3.68 on their monthly bill for the first year. This rate structure follows the guidance of a cost-of-service study which worked to ensure that rates remain affordable while supporting sustainable water operations.

Prior to the public hearing, WVWD launched a comprehensive public outreach campaign, which included community meetings, customer notifications, and opportunities for residents to provide feedback throughout the rate-setting process. Insights gathered during this time helped to inform and guide the District’s approach and ensure transparency at every step.
