Poster Contest:
WVWD’s Poster Contest raises awareness and sparks student interest in water conservation among students who live or attend school within our service area. Each year, students are invited to use their creativity to share why saving water matters and inspire others to become water-conscious community members.
The theme of this year’s contest is “Being a Water Superhero Means…” — giving our young water conservation leaders an opportunity to illustrate what being a water superhero means to them. The winning posters, along with photos of the student artists, are featured in our Annual West Valley Water District Calendar.
To learn more visit: www.wvwd.org/postercontest. Questions can be sent to the Public Affairs Department by emailing social@wvwd.org or by calling 909-875-1804.
Scholarship Contest:
West Valley Water District’s (WVWD) Scholarship Contest provides graduating high school seniors with an opportunity to earn financial support for their education. The contest is open to students who live or attend school within WVWD’s service area, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and plan to attend a two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational trade school during the following school year.
To enter, students may choose to create a 60–90 second Public Service Announcement (PSA) or submit a 500–1,000-word essay responding to the contest prompt.
Five eligible students will each receive a $1,000 scholarship, made payable to their chosen educational institution upon proof of enrollment. To learn more, visit www.wvwd.org/scholarships
SoCal STEAM Challenge:
The mission of the SoCal STEAM Challenge is to expand the horizon of education through hands-on activities, allowing students to create innovative ideas, while providing a positive forum to implement their problem-solving and creativity skills.
This event gathers high school students from across the Inland Empire to build and race sixteen foot boats equipped with solar technology.
This three day event, held at Yucaipa Regional Park, includes an endurance, slalom and sprint race. In the months before the event, teams must prepare two technical reports and a Public Service Announcement (PSA) about water conservation. Students are also required to present their PSA at the event. The team with the most points overall wins the competition.
Once built, teams take the boats back to their schools where they spend many hours fitting them with the required technology. During this time students fine tune their designs to prepare for competition.
West Valley Water District is a proud sponsor of Rialto High School.

STEM Day
-
As part of our ongoing commitment to community outreach and education, WVWD proudly hosts events such as our annual STEM Day celebration where we welcome local high school students to our headquarters. The event offered students a behind-the-scenes look at the District’s treatment facility, a chance for hands-on experience using District technology, and created opportunities to speak directly to water professionals and learn more about the diverse career paths within the water industry.

Community Outreach
-
Tabeling:
Recognizing the importance of community engagement, WVWD participates in local community events as part of its outreach initiatives. These events serve as a platform to interact directly with the community it serves, by providing essential resources such as water-saving devices, educational materials, and information. WVWD aims to raise awareness about the importance of responsible water usage during these events. In addition, WVWD provides community sponsorships, underscoring our commitment to being more than just a water supplier, but a true partner within our communities.

Creek Mobile:
West Valley Water District's Creek Mobile is a mobile hydration van that delivers free, refreshing, high-quality tap water to community events throughout our service area. Designed to promote hydration, sustainability, and water education, The Creek Mobile provides an environmentally friendly alternative to single-use bottled water while helping residents learn more about their local water supply. To learn more about it, visit The Creek Mobile | West Valley Water District
- Government Affairs
-
WVWD’s POGA team also monitors legislative and policy developments that may impact the District, our operations, and the communities we serve. We work with elected officials, legislative staff, government agencies, regional water partners, and industry associations to advocate for District priorities and support a reliable and sustainable water future.
Our Government Affairs work includes:
- Monitoring legislation and policy affecting water agencies and District operations
- Advocating for District priorities at the state, federal, and regional levels
- Coordinating meetings and engagement with elected officials, legislative staff, and government partners
- Identifying funding opportunities that can support District programs and projects
- Representing WVWD at regional and industry meetings
- Strengthening partnerships with agencies and organizations to advance shared priorities and benefit our customers
Legislative Platform
WVWD’s Legislative Platform serves as the District’s roadmap for legislative advocacy. Adopted by the Board of Directors, the platform outlines WVWD’s legislative priorities, desired outcomes, and positions on proposed legislation and policy matters that may impact the District and the region.
The Legislative Platform is developed collaboratively by the Public Outreach and Government Affairs team in partnership with WVWD’s lobbyists, management, and Board of Directors. It aligns the District’s advocacy efforts with its strategic plan and helps guide engagement throughout the legislative session.
